Sam Nonoa leads Puatala’s teams across Waikato, Auckland, and the Bay of Plenty, delivering training programmes that are innovative, relevant, and flexible. As Programme Manager, Sam plays a key role in supporting learners and guiding teams to create meaningful outcomes.
Here’s a quick five to get to know Sam a little better.
What is your passion?
Sport in general, but rugby has always been my biggest passion.
Why did you decide to take up this opportunity?
The chance to give back to our Pacific Island community and help students see career and education pathways they may not have thought were possible.
What do you hope to achieve in your role?
To make a difference through service.
What are some exciting plans you have for the programme?
Making learning enjoyable through participation and shared experiences.
What’s something people may not know about you?
I’m good at playing the ukulele and quietly singing — usually to an audience of myself.
Any last words?
I live by the Samoan proverb: “O le ala i le pule o le tautua” — the way to authority is through service. To lead, one must serve.
It’s clear to see the heart and passion Sam brings to his role, guided by a strong belief in service and supporting students to achieve success in life. Feel free to connect with the Puatala team to learn more about our training programmes or to have a quick kōrero.
